Joseph B. Walker Joins Butler Snow in Memphis

MEMPHIS,Tenn.,May 21, 2014–Butler Snowis pleased to announcethatJoseph B. Walker has joined the firm’s Memphis office. Walker is a member of the firm’s Business Services Groupand will focus his practice on wealth transfer, asset protection and death tax planning, trust administration and probate estates, tax exempt organizations, federal income tax and state/local tax planning and controversies, and information technology and software licensing transactions.

Walker has provided high net worth families with sophisticated wealth transfer planningand tax reduction mechanisms. Forcomplicated family issues, charitable givingand asset protection, he has created andimplemented lifetime and testamentary trusts and has represented fiduciaries and beneficiaries in controversiesarising from trust and estate matters. Walker has advised taxpayers as to methodsforreducing federal income and state/local taxesand addressed tax assessments atthe administrative and litigation levels. He has provided counsel to tax-exempt organizations from start-up and maintaining charitable status to expansion of the organization’s benefit to thecommunity. Walker also has extensive experience in assisting global and local licensors and licensees with negotiation anddrafting of software, network and database agreements for information technology development, licensing, hosting, maintenance and marketing.

A fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, Walker earned hisBBA in Accounting from the University of Mississippi and Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis.He is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has been named inBest Lawyers®Trustsand Estates for 30 years and was named “Lawyer of the Year” for Trusts and Estates in 2011 and for Litigation—Trustsand Estates in2014.
