Matthew O. Gray Joins Butler Snow Denver

DENVER April 8, 2014–Butler Snowis pleased to announcethatMatthew O. Grayhas joined the firm’s Public Finance, Tax Incentives and Credit Markets Group in the Denver office. Gray will focus his practice on public finance, new markets tax credits, local government, elections and voting rights.

“Matt is a great addition to the firm and ourPublic Finance, Tax Incentives and Credit Markets Group,” saidDonald Clark, Jr.,chairman, Butler Snow.“His experience in public finance and as a deputy district attorney will add real value for our clients and to our growing public finance practice.”

Gray has experience in assistingcounties, municipalities, school districts and other local governments in complying with all aspects of state and federal tax and securities law related to public finance transactions. He has advised local governments regarding debt issues, lease-purchase transactions, elections, sales and property taxes, and other municipal functions. Gray has also served as the deputy district attorney for the 17thJudicial District in Colorado,where he prosecuted crimes in the counties of Adams and Broomfield.

Gray completed his undergraduate education at Arizona State University,where he studied philosophy and political science. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law, where he finished first in his class and served as the articles editor for the Arizona Law Review. Gray was a 2012 40 Under 40 Nominee by the Denver Business Journal, was named an Up and Coming Lawyer by Law Week Coloradoin 2011, and was awarded the distinguished service awardbythe Adams County Youth Initiative in 2011 for the pro bono services he provided to county-wide collaboration of law enforcement, education, human service and non-profit organizations. He also serves as the chairman for the board of equalization for the city and county of Broomfield,where he is responsible for hearing appeals of property valuation and requests for abatement of property taxes in the City and County of Broomfield.
